Irans Foreign Ministry called the ban on uranium enrichment a red line

Iran firmly defends its right to uranium enrichment

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to foreign media, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi gave a decisive response to the US demand to abandon the peaceful nuclear program within the framework of the upcoming deal.

"There is a lot of ambiguity in this proposal (US - ed.). We will give a proper response in the next few days. Uranium enrichment on our territory is a 'red line'. This is a reality that, I think, all countries have realized," Araqchi told journalists.

US President Donald Trump previously stated that a potential nuclear program deal completely excludes the possibility of uranium enrichment in Iran. Reuters, citing an Iranian diplomat, reported that Tehran intends to reject this proposal as it deprives the country of its legitimate right to develop a peaceful nuclear program. In light of these disagreements, the sixth round of negotiations between the US and Iran may be at risk of breaking down, CNN suggests.
