In St. Petersburg, about 10 thousand migrants will be left without work in the taxi and delivery sectors. The information was provided by "Fontanka" with reference to a statement by the deputy head of the labor committee Tatyana Morozkova.

According to the provided data, in the past year, more than 200 thousand work patents were issued to foreign citizens in the Northern capital. Of this number, 1.6% are taxi drivers, and 3.4% are couriers. According to "Fontanka's" calculations, the restrictions will affect approximately 10 thousand people.

"But we understand that taxi drivers and couriers also work under other patents - as auxiliary workers. And employers hire them under other patents," Morozkova explained.

She specifically noted that the introduced ban on the employment of migrants in the taxi and delivery sectors will not have a negative impact on the economic situation of the cultural capital.

On August 11, a ban on migrants working in the courier delivery sector came into force in St. Petersburg.

It is specified that the restrictions apply to all types of courier activities, including delivery using vehicles. The vacated jobs may become attractive to schoolchildren and students. Representatives of the city administration assured that the new rules will not affect the stability of the delivery market, as the share of foreign citizens among the total number of couriers in the city is insignificant.

Information about the ban on foreigners working in the taxi sector appeared at the end of July.
