In London, a time capsule was discovered that was placed by Princess Diana in 1991 in the foundation of the Great Ormond Street children's hospital. As The Guardian reports, the message was left by the princess together with young patients of the medical institution.
Upon opening the capsule, researchers discovered a real treasure trove of early 90s items: a music disc by popular singer Kylie Minogue, a compact calculator, a British citizen's passport, a miniature pocket television, and a hologram depicting a snowflake. Among other artifacts of the time were a photographic portrait of Princess Diana, a collection of British coins from that period, a box with plant seeds, and a copy of the Times newspaper.
Of particular interest is the front page of the newspaper, which captured Mikhail Gorbachev with a notable headline: "Soviet voters who come to vote will be given canned meat."
Notably, the capsule was extracted much earlier than the planned date. The reason for the early opening was the decision to build a modern oncology center on the hospital grounds.
