Dangerous Imbalance: Why Wheel Balancing Is Critical for Your Car
As reported by TUT.AZ, unbalanced wheels can seriously impair vehicle handling and significantly accelerate tire wear.
"The first thing a driver will encounter after installing unbalanced wheels is handling problems. At high speeds, vibration from the wheels is transmitted to the steering wheel and body, making driving unsafe. The car loses stability, especially on turns and during braking," warns Artem Bovt, the head of Fit Service auto repair shop, in an interview with gazeta.ru.
The expert emphasizes that unbalanced wheels lead to uneven tire wear. In modern conditions, when a set of quality tires is very expensive, timely balancing becomes not only technically necessary but also economically beneficial.
The problem also affects the car's suspension. Shock absorbers, silent blocks, steering rods, and wheel bearings are the first to take the hit from the imbalance. The result is accelerated wear and expensive repairs of the chassis.
Uneven weight distribution of wheels also negatively affects the braking system, causing uneven wear of discs and pads. This significantly reduces braking efficiency and can create a dangerous situation on the road.
In conclusion, Bovt notes that unbalanced wheels create additional resistance during movement, forcing the engine to work under increased load, which inevitably leads to increased fuel consumption.
