In the USA, a man committed a brutal murder of his three-month-old son, drowning the infant in a bucket with laundry detergent. The confession to the crime came almost a year after the tragedy. This is reported by Local12.
The tragic events began on August 10, 2024. Medical staff at a hospital in Lafayette, Indiana called the police after a woman came in with obvious signs of domestic violence. In conversation with law enforcement, the victim reported that her 29-year-old husband had brutally beaten her with a crowbar and a wrench. However, the woman's main concern was not her own health, but the disappearance of their three-month-old son, whom her husband had taken away to an unknown location.
Police searched the suspect's home but did not find the child. The man admitted guilt only in the attack on his wife, denying involvement in the infant's disappearance. The next day, during a second inspection of the residence, an orange bucket was found in the kitchen. Inside was the dead child, submerged in water with laundry detergent. Autopsy results showed that the cause of the infant's death was asphyxiation due to immersion in a soapy solution.
Tippecanoe County Deputy Prosecutor Alice Madigan reported that the man subsequently confessed to the crime and revealed his motives.
"The accused wanted to teach his wife and all women a lesson. With this, he wanted to show that men cannot be disrespected," said Madigan.
She added that for the committed crime - murder of an infant and attempted murder - the man was sentenced to 92 years in prison.
