Court extended the arrest of former Istanbul mayor Imamoglu and 12 other defendants in a high-profile corruption case
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Haber Global, the Istanbul court has decided to extend the detention period for 13 suspects in a large-scale corruption scheme, among whom is the former mayor Ekrem Imamoglu. The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office has uncovered a whole tangle of serious offenses.
The charges brought against the defendants are impressive in their diversity: from creating and leading a criminal organization to receiving bribes, fraud, illegal collection of personal data, and violations in tender procedures.
