# Hidden Signs of High Blood Sugar: What You Need to Know

High blood sugar can be detected without a single test: doctors have named five warning signs that the body sends long before a visit to the laboratory.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Daily Mirror, well-known dietitian and fitness instructor Cassandra Barns listed non-obvious signs of hyperglycemia that most people simply overlook.

One of the first "warning bells," according to the specialist, is frequent thrush. Excess glucose in the blood disrupts the microflora balance and creates an ideal environment for the rapid multiplication of Candida fungi. If episodes of candidiasis keep recurring again and again, it is a reason to take notice.

Another alarming symptom is the accumulation of fatty tissue specifically in the abdominal area. The so-called "fat roll" around the waist is considered one of the significant risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes.

The third sign is constant, virtually unquenchable thirst. Barns explained the mechanism: when glucose concentration is high, the body tries to "dilute" the blood by drawing fluid from cells. This is precisely why a person cannot quench their thirst no matter how much water they drink.

In addition, hyperglycemia is often accompanied by an unrelenting feeling of hunger and chronic fatigue. The expert explained: when glucose absorption is impaired, cells stop efficiently receiving energy. The person feels a loss of energy, and the brain, not receiving enough resources, repeatedly sends false hunger signals.

Foreign nutrition specialists emphasize that ignoring such symptoms is dangerous. If they appear, it is recommended to see a doctor as soon as possible and have blood sugar levels checked.
