Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urgently arrived at the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) after a powerful earthquake shook Istanbul.
As reported by Ohu.Az, the Turkish leader promptly shared information about the situation on his social media.
Erdogan reported that the AFAD Crisis Center recorded underground tremors with a magnitude of 6.2 in the Sea of Marmara, which were felt by residents of Istanbul and neighboring provinces. The head of state emphasized with relief that the natural disaster occurred without human casualties.
"All government institutions will continue to work seven days a week, around the clock," he firmly stated.
The President also spoke about an emergency meeting at the Crisis Center with the participation of key ministers and representatives of responsible structures. The meeting conducted a detailed analysis of the current situation and developed a plan for further actions to minimize the consequences of the disaster.
"We have given all necessary instructions for the upcoming process. During the search operations, no problems were identified in the areas where the earthquake was felt," the President of Turkey assured.
