A Russian expert explained how to protect a smartphone from overheating during summer heat.
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to RIA Novosti, the head of the telephony department at the MTS retail network, Natalia Golitsyna, urged gadget owners to never leave their devices under direct sunlight or inside a car, where the temperature can soar to critical levels within minutes.
According to the specialist, in hot weather it is better to use a smartphone in the shade, and prolonged gaming, video recording, and other resource-intensive tasks outdoors should be avoided whenever possible. If the device has noticeably heated up, the expert advises temporarily removing the thick case — this will improve natural ventilation and speed up cooling.
Golitsyna also specifically warned that rapidly cooling down an overheated phone in a refrigerator or under a stream of cold water is strictly prohibited. A sharp temperature drop can cause condensation to form inside the housing, which can damage the electronics. In case of overheating, it is much safer to disconnect the smartphone from charging, move it to a cool shaded place, and let it cool down naturally.
The expert emphasized that heat itself does not make using a smartphone dangerous, but under such conditions the device requires more careful handling. Following these simple recommendations will help maintain the gadget's performance and significantly extend the battery's lifespan.
