Erdogan criticized caricatures of Islamic prophets

Erdogan harshly condemned cartoons of prophets in Turkish satirical publication: "This is not humor, but provocation"

"Our law enforcement and judicial authorities immediately responded to this hate crime — the magazine was removed from sale, and the necessary investigative actions have already begun. Everyone who allows themselves to insult our prophet and other prophets will certainly answer before the law," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a speech to representatives of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara.

On June 30, the Istanbul prosecutor's office launched an official investigation into the well-known satirical magazine Leman. The reason was the published cartoons depicting the prophets Muhammad and Musa (Moses) against the background of a rocket attack. The prosecutor's office has already issued warrants for the detention of four employees of the publication, including the direct author of the scandalous illustrations.
