US President Donald Trump has agreed to an interview with The Atlantic's editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, who recently found himself at the center of a scandal involving a secret Signal chat where an operation against the Houthis was discussed.
As reported by TUT.AZ, the White House head announced this on his social media platform Truth Social.
According to Trump, Goldberg, along with colleagues Michael Scherer and Ashley Parker, are preparing a piece titled "The Most Influential President of This Century."
The President noted that despite numerous "fictional" stories about him published by Goldberg earlier, he decided to give the interview to test "whether The Atlantic can be truthful."
In addition to the recent Signal incident, Goldberg is known for the controversial 2020 publication "Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are 'Losers' and 'Suckers'." The article claimed that "the president repeatedly disparaged the intelligence of service members and asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades."
In March of this year, Goldberg revealed that the president's national security advisor Mike Waltz accidentally added him to a private chat in the Signal messenger. In one of the messages, US Vice President JD Vance wrote: "If you think we should do this [strike the Houthis], then let's do it. It's just unbearable to bail out Europe again."
The incident, dubbed Signalgate, is now being investigated by the Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of Defense. Waltz acknowledged the mistake of including the journalist in the chat, however, the White House categorically denies that the correspondence contained classified information.
