Sweden and Denmark have sent unusual military aid to Ukraine – fishing nets, which can become an effective means in the fight against enemy drones.
As TUT.AZ reports, citing the Finnish broadcasting company Yle, the cost of the Danish batch of nets alone is estimated at approximately €2.5 million. Most of these nets became unwanted by fishermen after the United Kingdom imposed restrictions on fishing in the North Sea.
According to the Ukrainian newspaper Kyiv Post, fishing nets have found an unexpected application in military conditions. They are stretched over trenches and entrances to dugouts, which allows slowing down the fall of explosive devices dropped from drones. Such a solution can disrupt the detonation mechanism of ammunition, increasing the safety of military personnel.
It should be noted that since the beginning of February 2022, the total volume of Denmark's military aid to Ukraine has reached an impressive amount of €8.5 billion. Sweden during the same period has sent support to Kyiv worth almost €8 billion.
