Borrell: All European Union aid to Ukraine is frozen

EU Aid to Ukraine Completely Frozen

This was reported by former EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell in an interview with the EUObserver portal.

According to Borrell, after his departure from office, Kyiv has not received any assistance from the European Union. The former diplomat emphasized that now support for Ukraine is only possible on a bilateral basis between individual countries.

"After my departure [from the post], military aid to Ukraine from the EU has not been provided. 6.6 billion euros in the European Peace Fund remain blocked due to Hungary. This has become the end of this instrument. Now everything must be done on a bilateral basis," said the former head of EU diplomacy.

Borrell also noted that the process of agreeing on new sanctions against Russia has reached a deadlock. According to him, if Hungary refuses to extend the restrictive measures, the European Union will be powerless to make such a decision without its consent.

Earlier, former US Ambassador to the EU Anthony Gardner stated that US President Donald Trump deliberately "fragmented" the European Union for his own benefit. In his opinion, the politician "ruthlessly" used leverage on the union to impose a trade deal favorable to Washington.
