People's memorial appeared at the site of AZAL plane crash in Kazakhstan

A video of an improvised memorial created at the site of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash near Aktau airport is being shared on social media. The area where the aircraft debris was located is now enclosed with an iron fence. Benches have been installed and flowers planted near the memorial site.

The akimat (local administration) of Tupkaragan district emphasized that official authorities were not involved in creating the memorial.

"This is an initiative of caring residents of Mangistau region. They decided to build this memorial at their own expense and pay tribute to the deceased. No money from the budget was allocated for the memorial," noted the press service of the district akimat.
