The quality of human sleep depends not only on stress levels and physical activity, but also on nutrition. Following certain rules of food intake before bedtime can significantly improve night rest, said Alena Gavrilova, a doctor from the sleep medicine department.
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to "Evening Moscow", the specialist emphasized the importance of a light dinner, which should not overload the gastrointestinal tract before going to bed. According to the expert, an excessive amount of protein that is difficult to digest can significantly reduce the quality of night rest.
- For example, a small piece of cod is digested quite quickly, while chicken protein takes longer to digest, and in this case, sleep may be less deep and fulfilling, - the doctor explained.
The medical expert particularly noted the danger of fatty foods in the evening. Such products create a significant load on the digestive system, forcing the body to work actively during a period intended for recovery. As a result, sleep quality is noticeably reduced, which negatively affects the general well-being and health of the person.
