Harvard scientists revealed the secret of a healthy heart: it's not about the type of diet, but the quality of food

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health have made an important discovery in the field of cardiology and dietetics. After analyzing data from nearly 200,000 people collected over several decades, they found that for cardiovascular health, what matters most is not so much the type of diet (low-carb or low-fat), but the quality of consumed foods. These revolutionary findings were presented to the scientific community at the American Nutrition Society conference in Orlando.

The results of the study are impressive: diets rich in whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, and nuts reduce the risk of developing ischemic heart disease by a whole 15%. At the same time, diets high in refined carbohydrates and excessive amounts of fats significantly increase the likelihood of heart disease.

Specialists strongly recommend giving preference to natural whole foods and limiting the consumption of processed meat and sugary drinks as much as possible.

In their future plans, scientists aim to study the relationship between the effectiveness of various diets and a person's genetic characteristics, lifestyle, as well as the influence of nutrition on the development of diabetes and oncological diseases. These studies will pave the way for creating personalized nutrition recommendations that take into account the individual characteristics of each person.
