Can't put down your smartphone? Doctor warns about the risk of surgical intervention
Well-known medical specialist Miguel Assal is raising the alarm: constant smartphone use can lead patients straight to the operating table. In an interview with La Razon, the doctor revealed the shocking consequences of our gadget addiction.
According to Assal, people who don't let go of their smartphones risk developing carpal tunnel syndrome. This serious condition manifests as excruciating pain in the hand, wrist, and fingers. While medication treatment is possible in the early stages, advanced cases inevitably require surgical operation.
But wrist problems are just the tip of the iceberg. The expert notes a whole spectrum of negative consequences: from neck and ulnar nerve pain to eye strain, anxiety disorders, and chronic insomnia. The doctor is particularly concerned about the statistics: the global average of gadget use exceeds 6.5 hours per day, which, according to the specialist, is a critically high value.
