Tragedy in Novosibirsk: Girl Loses Eye Due to Complications from Night Contact Lenses

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to the Telegram channel SHOT, a shocking incident occurred in Novosibirsk. A resident of the city lost her vision after accidentally damaging her cornea while putting in a contact lens. A dangerous infection penetrated through the micro-injury into her eye, causing rapid inflammation.

The first alarming signs were redness and acute eye irritation. Despite therapy prescribed by an ophthalmologist, the situation rapidly deteriorated - the pain syndrome intensified, and the condition of the eye critically worsened. Later, doctors diagnosed infectious keratitis of amoebic nature.

The victim was diagnosed with an abscess and corneal ulcer. Despite a series of surgical interventions, it was not possible to save the organ of vision. Doctors were forced to make a radical decision to remove the eye with subsequent installation of a prosthesis.

Unfortunately, the trials for the Novosibirsk girl did not end there. Doctors detected signs of inflammation and redness in the second eye. The patient remains under constant medical supervision, as there is a serious threat of damage to the only remaining organ of vision if the infection activates or immunity decreases. Moreover, the victim's body was so weakened as a result of the illness that she additionally developed diabetes.
