As part of the prestigious auction "Eternal Titans/Legendary Sports Cards," a unique gold rainbow card of Alexander Ovechkin from his debut 2005/2006 NHL season, when the Russian star was just beginning his journey with the Washington Capitals, was sold at auction.
According to TUT.AZ, citing Collectorclub, the collectible card with the legendary hockey player's autograph was purchased for an impressive sum of 381,000 dollars.
Experts rated the quality and rarity of this collectible treasure at 8 out of 10 possible points.
This deal not only surpassed the previous record for Ovechkin card sales, which was 182,400 dollars, but also took an honorable third place among all public sales of hockey cards in history, becoming an absolute record among modern hockey cards.
Recall that recently Ovechkin wrote his name in hockey history by surpassing Wayne Gretzky's legendary record for the number of goals in the NHL. Today, Alexander has an impressive 897 goals in 1,491 regular season games.
