Famous writer Dmitry Bykov placed on international wanted list

As reported by TUT.AZ, the news agency RIA Novosti, citing case materials, reports that writer Dmitry Bykov (included in the register of foreign agents by the Russian Ministry of Justice) has been added to the international wanted list.

In the spring of this year, the Investigative Committee of Russia initiated criminal proceedings against Bykov on charges of disseminating unreliable information about the Russian Armed Forces and evading the obligations of a foreign agent. Representatives of the department claim that the writer published material on a popular video hosting platform that, according to the investigation, contained deliberately false information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces against the civilian population of Ukraine. The investigation also notes that Bykov did not provide the relevant authorities with information that is mandatory to submit in accordance with the legislation on the activities of foreign agents.

Dmitry Bykov is widely known as a talented writer, poet, publicist, literary critic, and teacher. He has twice been awarded the prestigious "National Bestseller" literary prize. Throughout his public activities, Bykov has repeatedly participated in unauthorized protest events. In July 2022, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included him in the list of foreign agents.
