President Donald Trump is unwavering: Greenland must become part of American strategic interests
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to kommersant.ru, White House official spokesperson Caroline Leavitt confirmed the American leader's resolute attitude toward Greenland at Monday's briefing. According to her, the president is ready to use "any available means" to achieve this goal.
"However, the president still maintains his view on Greenland's strategic objectives in the Arctic," Leavitt stated. "And he remains committed to the idea of acquiring Greenland by any means available to us to advance his national security interests in the region."
In early May, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources, reported that US intelligence agencies are intensifying information gathering about Greenland. It was noted that intelligence services were instructed to "learn more about Greenland's independence movement and attitudes toward US extraction of natural resources on the island." Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard expressed outrage after the publication of the material, stating that the WSJ "should be ashamed" for disclosing classified information that undermines the president's authority.
