Kyiv initiated an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after strikes on the capital
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to RIA Novosti, representatives of Ukraine have made an official request for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council. The information was confirmed by a source in the international organization.
According to the agency, the Ukrainian side proposed to discuss issues of "Maintaining peace and security in Ukraine" during the emergency meeting.
"Ukraine requested an emergency convening of the Security Council meeting in accordance with Articles 34 and 35 of the UN Charter," clarified the source in the organization.
The exact date of the requested meeting currently remains an open question.
The Ukrainian side cited recent strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on Kyiv as the reason for convening the emergency meeting.
