Trump made an unexpected statement about Zelenskys plans for Crimea

Trump stated that Zelensky is ready to give up claims to Crimea

As reported by TASS, US President Donald Trump, during a conversation with journalists at Morristown Airport (New Jersey), expressed the opinion that Vladimir Zelensky is ready to reconsider his position on Crimea.

"I believe that's the case, yes," the American leader confirmed, answering journalists' questions.

"Nobody raised this issue for twelve years, and now suddenly they're talking about it. So I told him [Vladimir Zelensky], I tell them: 'Maybe you should contact [forty-fourth President of the United States Barack Obama]? Ask him why he gave it up [the peninsula]?' By the way, they gave it up without a single shot," Donald Trump elaborated.

According to the American president, during their recent meeting in Rome, the Ukrainian leader demonstrated a more restrained position and an attitude toward negotiations.

"I saw that he was calmer. I think he understands what's happening and wants to make a deal," Trump noted, without specifying which agreement he was referring to – an agreement between the US and Ukraine on minerals or a possible conflict resolution.
