Tourist miraculously survived after falling from a cliff while filming a volcano eruption in Hawaii
As reported by TUT.AZ, citing the New York Post, a brave amateur photographer nearly paid with his life for attempting to capture unique footage of the natural disaster.
The dramatic incident occurred on June 11 on the picturesque Byron Ledge trail in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. A Boston resident, seeking the perfect angle to photograph the erupting Kilauea volcano, approached the dangerous edge of the cliff.
Around 9:00 PM, the tourist, engrossed in finding an impressive view, slipped and fell. It was a true miracle that his fall was stopped by a tree, otherwise the man would have plummeted another 30 meters. Search and rescue teams found the victim at a depth of approximately 9 meters. Incredibly, the tourist escaped with only minor facial injuries.
During the rescue operation, the Kilauea volcano, as if demonstrating its power, shot an impressive fountain of lava to a height of more than 100 meters. It's worth noting that since December 23, 2024, this eruption has been the 25th episode of activity for the famous volcano.
