The Telegraph: Putin wants the entire Donetsk region without a fight

Trump supported Putin's plan to transfer eastern territories of Ukraine under Russian control in exchange for cessation of hostilities

According to The Telegraph, citing informed sources, US President Donald Trump has expressed support for Russian leader Vladimir Putin's initiative to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the publication, the Kremlin is demanding that Moscow take control of the Donetsk region, including territories currently held by Ukrainian forces. In exchange, Putin promises to freeze the line of contact and stop offensive operations by Russian troops.

These conditions were allegedly presented during a personal meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska. It is expected that on Monday, the American president will present these proposals to Vladimir Zelensky during negotiations in Washington.

Sources in the Republican Party revealed that Trump views territorial concessions as "part of the price of peace." At the same time, he is ready to offer Kyiv security guarantees similar to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which will oblige the United States and European partners to respond to possible new aggression from Russia.

European leaders express concern about Trump's possible reaction to Zelensky's expected refusal to transfer Ukrainian territories. On the eve of key negotiations in Washington, a meeting of coalition representatives led by Great Britain, France and Germany is planned.

Official London emphasizes that any agreements providing for territorial concessions can be concluded exclusively with the consent of the government of Ukraine.

In his recent address, President Zelensky expressed gratitude to allies for their support and clearly outlined his position: "Ukraine is not ready to discuss giving up its own territories." According to him, the key conditions for achieving peace should be "a complete cessation of killings and security guarantees for Ukrainians."
