Dramatic incident: Azimut's Superjet-100 lost engine cowling during takeoff from Vnukovo
As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Russian media, an Azimut Airlines aircraft encountered an unexpected technical malfunction in the air. After takeoff, the dispatcher urgently contacted the pilots, reporting the loss of the right engine nacelle cowlings. The commander of the liner, which was following the Moscow-Batumi route, immediately decided to return to the departure airport. A "Blue" alert code was declared at the air harbor, providing for preparation for an emergency landing. The plane circled in the waiting area for an hour to burn off fuel, after which it landed safely. The airport's technical services found the fallen fragments of the engine cowling on the runway.
