The mysterious "black moon", associated with apocalyptic predictions, will appear in the sky in a few days. This is reported by the British publication Daily Mail.
A rare astronomical phenomenon called the "black moon" occurs when a second new moon rises within a single calendar month. During a new moon, our natural satellite is positioned between the Earth and the Sun, causing its side facing us to remain unilluminated and invisible without special instruments.
Adherents of apocalyptic theories draw attention to biblical texts, particularly the words from the Gospel of Mark stating that "the Sun will be darkened, and the Moon will not give its light." The scientific community, however, calls for calm, emphasizing that there is no reason for concern.
Walter Freeman, an associate professor of physics at Syracuse University in the USA, explains: if a new moon occurs at the beginning of a month, then the next one may come before the month ends. From an astronomical perspective, such a new moon is no different from other similar phenomena.
The culmination of the "black moon" is expected on August 22. This phenomenon is observed approximately once every 33 months. Astronomers predict that the next "black moon" will visit our sky on August 20, 2028.
