Indonesian President's cat received personal security, reports South China Morning Post.
According to the publication, a cat named Bobby, who was adopted nine years ago by current President Prabowo Subianto, is now officially considered part of state property. In this regard, all security protocols provided for protected persons, including personal escort, apply to the four-legged pet of the head of state.
The decision to provide the cat with personal security caused a strong reaction on social media. Many Indonesians expressed dissatisfaction, considering it an unjustified waste of budget funds.
"Working hard so that a cat can be guarded? This is absurd," commentators on the internet are outraged.
Nevertheless, Bobby also found passionate defenders.
"Better to guard a cat that brings joy than useless officials. Bobby helps homeless animals and lifts people's spirits," noted one user.
It's worth noting that Bobby, once a homeless cat, has turned into a real internet celebrity with an army of fans numbering more than a million subscribers, and his popularity has long extended beyond Indonesia.
