LDPR Deputies Introduced a Bill on Paid Education for Migrant Children in High School
Representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, led by Leonid Slutsky, have developed a bill that proposes to make education in grades 10-11 paid for children of foreign citizens. The document was officially published on Friday.
The proposed amendments to the law "On Education in the Russian Federation" establish that foreign citizens will be able to receive education in the upper grades of Russian schools exclusively on a paid basis. The bill provides for a number of exceptions, allowing certain categories of foreign students to retain the right to free education.
The authors of the initiative believe that such a measure will help reduce the burden on the Russian educational system and increase its funding.
"Teachers are overloaded, consequently, the quality of teaching is declining, a significant portion of newcomers, non-Russian students have low academic performance, which slows down the pace of learning and interferes with Russian high school students, not to mention the tendency of migrant teenagers toward aggression and crime. But the main thing is that huge state funds are spent on this entire horde, and from the pockets of Russian parents," Slutsky said in an interview with TASS.
