Revolutionary battery in ultra-thin iPhone revealed

The upcoming iPhone 17 Air with a record-thin body will receive innovative battery technology that will increase battery capacity without changing dimensions. This is reported by the DigiTimes portal.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to become the first Apple smartphone with a silicon anode battery, which will be developed by the Japanese company TDK. This revolutionary solution will provide an impressive 15% increase in battery capacity without changing dimensions, which is critically important for the ultra-thin device body measuring just 5.5 mm.

Despite its compact size, high energy density, resource-intensive chip, and masterfully optimized iOS power consumption guarantee battery life comparable to current iPhone models. In addition, the smartphone will be equipped with an energy-efficient C1 modem, which has brilliantly proven itself in the iPhone 16e, and the strategic abandonment of the ultra-wide camera will free up precious space for the battery pack.

It is reported that Japanese TDK has already fully prepared the supply of innovative batteries and in the near future plans to introduce breakthrough technology with pure silicon, capable of increasing battery capacity tenfold.

The presentation of the iPhone 17 series smartphones is expected in September 2025.
