As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to RIA Novosti, the raising of the red flag over the sacred mosque has already occurred at significant moments of tension - after the death of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in September 2024 and the assassination of influential IRGC special unit commander General Qasem Soleimani in January 2020.
