Wisdom of Generations: Pavel Durov Shared Three Life Lessons from His Professor Father
The founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov published in his personal channel three valuable pieces of advice from his 80-year-old father, philology professor Valery Durov. These teachings, intended for future generations, touch on fundamental aspects of human life.
The professor's first advice states: actions are more important than words. "People, especially children, follow your actions, not your words. Watching how my father tirelessly worked on numerous books and scientific works, my brother and I understood what dedication to work means, he inspired us to work hard too," Pavel Durov shared.
The second teaching concerns the power of positive thinking and the ability to control emotions. Valery Durov, who survived the difficult post-war years in Leningrad, managed to develop the ability to maintain optimism and be a source of positive energy for those around him. He taught his son to formulate thoughts constructively and bring benefits even in difficult circumstances.
Professor Durov's third piece of advice calls for placing conscience above all else. His many years of studying and translating classical works by Julius Caesar and Seneca led him to the conviction of the unconditional superiority of morality over talent. According to the professor, the moral compass remains the highest human value that will not be devalued even in the era of rapid development of artificial intelligence, unlike intellectual or creative abilities.
