In Japan, a man was detained for hiding his mother's body in an apartment for ten years due to social phobia
Police in the city of Kobe arrested 60-year-old Takehisa Miyawaki, who kept the remains of his deceased mother in his own apartment for a decade. According to the South China Morning Post, the man explained his shocking act by a pathological fear of communicating with people.
Law enforcement officers became suspicious due to Miyawaki's unusual behavior on the street. When a police officer asked him to provide information about himself and his mother, the man categorically refused. This prompted the authorities to visit the address registered to his mother. In the apartment, which was cluttered with garbage, police officers made a gruesome discovery – the remains of an elderly woman were found in the bathroom.
DNA testing confirmed that the remains belonged to the 95-year-old mother of the detainee. During questioning, Miyawaki admitted that he knew about his mother's death when it happened, but due to his panic fear of social contacts, he was unable to report her death to the appropriate authorities.
