Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Ali Larijani as the new secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. The information was confirmed by the authoritative Iranian agency NourNews.
"By the order of Masoud Pezeshkian, Ali Larijani has been appointed as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council," the source reports.
Prior to this appointment, the key position in Iran's national security system had been held by Ali Akbar Ahmadian since 2023.
It is worth noting that just a few days ago, on July 16, President Pezeshkian openly stated at a ministerial meeting that there are "fundamental security problems" in the country, which became particularly evident during the escalation of the Iran-Israel confrontation. The head of state emphasized the need for a thorough analysis of security vulnerabilities to minimize potential threats to the Islamic republic.
