In Turkey, an amazing medical case occurred: a 67-year-old resident of the city of Konya completely forgot his native Turkish language after knee surgery and subsequent arterial blockage, and began speaking exclusively in Danish.
As reported by TUT.AZ, this was announced by the Anadolu agency.
After the surgical intervention, the patient experienced weakness in his right arm and leg. The medical team immediately performed an emergency angiography and successfully removed the discovered blood clot, but soon after the procedure something unexpected happened: the man began communicating exclusively in Danish. According to the agency's information, the patient had lived in Denmark for two decades before returning to his homeland in Turkey, where he settled in Konya about 10 years ago.
"In my head it's Danish, and I can't say anything in Turkish," the man shared through an interpreter in a conversation with agency journalists.
Doctor Gokhan Ozdemir from the medical faculty of Selcuk University in Konya explained that in medical practice there are cases when after arterial blockage patients forget languages or unexpectedly begin to speak languages they did not previously know. The specialist expressed confidence that in the near future the patient will regain the ability to speak Turkish.
