In Peru, a 5,000-year-old grave of a woman from high society was found

On the coast of Peru, an ancient grave of a woman dating back 5,000 years has been found, reports TUT.AZ with reference to Reuters.

Archaeologists believe that the woman held a high position in the ancient Caral civilization. The city of Caral, located approximately 180 km from Lima, is considered the oldest city in South America and was contemporary with such great civilizations as ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Sumerian.

This discovery convincingly proves that "not only men played an important role in this civilization, but women were also a key part of it." The remains of a young woman, who died at the age of 20-35, were found in a luxurious mantle of blue and brown feathers, presumably belonging to Amazonian macaw parrots. Around the tomb, archaeologists found numerous ritual offerings: baskets with gifts, vases, gourds, and even a toucan's beak.
