The outrageous case happened in Marseille during abdominal surgery. A young trainee doctor made an unforgivable mistake by leaving a large medical instrument in the patient's body.
The consequences of medical negligence proved catastrophic for Gerard's health. After discovering the foreign object, the man had to undergo three more operations, including a repeat intervention in the abdominal cavity. Doctors state that it is now impossible to completely eliminate the physical and psychological damage from this tragic mistake. As a result, the victim was left with a deformed abdomen.
