Caring for genetic health is becoming a new trend in longevity and well-being, experts say.
As Vladimir Gushchin, Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at the N.V. Sklifosovsky Institute of Clinical Medicine of Sechenov University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, stated in an exclusive interview with "Izvestia," the preservation of DNA structure directly depends on a person's lifestyle, including proper nutrition and maintaining activity, reports TUT.AZ.
For future parents, genetic health should become a priority even at the family planning stage. If one of the partners has hereditary diseases or genetic risks, the professor strongly recommends consulting a geneticist before conception. An important element of caring for the future child's health is also timely prenatal and neonatal diagnostics to identify possible genetic abnormalities.
However, genetic well-being is relevant for everyone. Vladimir Gushchin emphasizes that anyone can improve the condition of their genes through a comprehensive approach to health. This includes a balanced diet, systematic physical and mental exercise, fighting inflammatory processes, and timely vaccination. The scientist particularly notes the importance of psychological balance and a positive attitude toward life.
"Understanding one's own genetic characteristics opens new horizons for a person - from choosing the ideal profession to forming healthy habits and correcting potentially dangerous ones," emphasizes Professor Gushchin. He also emphasizes the need to avoid contact with mutagenic environmental factors, in particular, excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation.
