Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented for the first time on the beginning of disarmament of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is banned in the country, calling it a historic step towards the republic's security.
The Turkish leader expressed his position in his official account on the social network X (formerly known as Twitter).
"I wish that the important step taken today towards our goal - a Turkey without terrorism - would be favorable. May Almighty Allah enable us to achieve our goals on this path that we are following for the security of our country, the peace of our people, and the establishment of lasting peace in our region," Erdogan said in his address.
