A hydrolyzed chicken protein supplement may positively affect the perception of sleep quality and overall well-being during the day.
As reported by TUT.AZ, this conclusion was reached by a group of scientists whose study was published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition.
The experiment involved 52 volunteers who complained of sleep problems. Over the course of four weeks, one half of the participants received a daily dose of 670 mg of a hydrolyzed chicken protein supplement, while the other half received a placebo. Objective measures of the overall sleep index showed no significant differences between the groups; however, participants who took the supplement reported a noticeable subjective improvement in sleep quality.
In addition, they showed a slight increase in daytime alertness and productivity, although this effect did not reach the threshold of statistical significance. The scientists believe that the possible mechanism of action of the supplement is related to bioactive peptides capable of affecting the nervous system and the body's restorative processes.
