Elon Musk sounds the alarm: demographic crisis in China threatens the country's future
"Demographic collapse is China's biggest problem in the long term. This applies to virtually every country on Earth," Musk stated in his message on the social network X. The head of DOGE (the agency for improving the efficiency of the US government) does not hide his concern about the current situation.
The famous billionaire is not raising the issue of demographic crisis on the world stage for the first time. Previously, he expressed serious concern about the catastrophically low birth rates in European countries. According to Musk, continuing demographic problems could lead to the complete disappearance of entire nations, with the cultural traditions of countries such as Italy, France, and Japan being particularly at risk.
The technological magnate's concerns are confirmed by official data. According to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics of the PRC, the population of the Celestial Empire continues to steadily decline. In 2024, the number of Chinese decreased by 1.39 million people, totaling 1.40828 billion citizens. The alarming trend began in 2022, when for the first time in six decades, a population decline of 850,000 people was recorded. In 2023, the negative trend intensified - the figure decreased by another 2.08 million people.
