Powerful M-class flare recorded on the Sun

As reported by TUT.AZ, specialists from the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG") registered a flare of the second-highest power class on the Sun.

"On August 8 at 06:53 Moscow time (07:53 Baku time - ed.) an M2.8 flare with a duration of 32 minutes was registered in the X-ray range in sunspot group 4168 (N04W43)", - the message states.

Since the beginning of August, solar activity remains high - nine flares of such power have already been recorded. Notably, almost all of them occurred in the same sunspot group. The most intense among them was an M4.4 class flare.
