Powerful earthquake with magnitude 6.2 shook waters off the coast of New Zealand
The US Geological Survey recorded significant underground tremors in the waters near New Zealand. The epicenter of the natural phenomenon was located 301 kilometers southwest of Invercargill — a city with a population of about 57 thousand residents.
The earthquake's focus was at a shallow depth — just 10 kilometers from the surface.
Fortunately, no information about casualties or destruction as a result of the underground tremors has been reported. Specialists also did not declare a tsunami threat in the region.
