100-year-old man named an unexpected reason for his longevity

Hundred-year-old Australian reveals unexpected secret to his longevity: "I can drink ten cups a day"

On June 19, Kevin Allen, a resident of the Australian town of St. Arnaud, celebrated his centenary. Surprisingly, together with his 94-year-old wife Ruby, they still live in the same house they purchased 75 years ago.

The long-liver's life journey is impressive: at 17, he enlisted in the Australian Air Force and spent three years on the frontlines of World War II, including combat operations in New Guinea and Borneo. According to Kevin himself, the main secret to his longevity has been... ordinary black tea. "I never drank beer or anything like that. But I love my black tea. I can drink ten cups a day. Sometimes with biscuits," the centenarian told Mirage News.

Kevin and Ruby's love story began at a local cinema where his future bride's sister worked. The couple's first date also involved tea drinking. When Allen walked the girl home, Ruby's father met him unexpectedly harshly: "You better get out of here, boy."

Despite such a "warm" introduction to his future father-in-law, on March 30, 1949, the couple got married and have been happily living together for more than 75 years. Over these years, the Allen family has grown into a real clan: two daughters, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. In his youth, Kevin was a footballer for the local team, and then worked at a flour mill for 28 years.

Even after crossing the century mark, Allen maintains his cheerful spirit, although he admits that he now needs some help with household chores. He hired someone to mow the lawn, and a friend provides him with firewood for the fireplace. On the day of his significant anniversary, not only relatives and friends gathered to congratulate the long-liver, but also representatives of local authorities - the district head and a member of the city council.
