Point Nemo: a mysterious place in the Pacific Ocean where no human has set foot

Researchers have discovered a unique area in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean, known as Point Nemo. This mysterious corner of the planet is recognized as the pole of relative inaccessibility - it is located farther from any land area than any other point in the World Ocean. The peculiarity of the region is the complete absence of any landmarks and almost unchanging level of illumination throughout the day. Point Nemo was first discovered by scientists in 1992 and to this day maintains the status of the most inaccessible place on our planet.

Interestingly, the name "Nemo" comes from the Latin word meaning "nobody" or "nothing," which perfectly reflects the essence of this desolate marine area. Neither sea routes nor air corridors pass through this area. In addition, specialists have recorded an increased level of ultraviolet radiation here, which is explained by its proximity to the well-known ozone hole, as reported by Techinsider.

In 1997, the scientific community was stirred by unusual sound signals registered near Point Nemo. According to scientists, the source of these mysterious sounds could have been a large ice mass that broke off from the shores of Antarctica.
