Pravda.Ru was told about this by nutritionist, nutritional specialist and therapist, member of the National Association of Dieticians and Nutritionists Anna Belousova.
The specialist recommends gradually reducing the amount of sugar in drinks and decreasing the consumption of sweets. To avoid temptation, the dietician suggests simply removing treats from sight.
The expert notes that excessive cravings for sweets may signal serious health problems, including carbohydrate metabolism disorders, prediabetes, or even diabetes.
"Sometimes this can also occur with iron deficiency anemia or chromium deficiency. Therefore, before completely eliminating sweets, you need to check your blood sugar and iron levels and, if necessary, adjust your diet," Belousova emphasized.
Interestingly, researchers from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center recently found that daily consumption of nuts between main meals effectively reduces cravings for sweets and significantly improves the quality of the diet in young people who are at risk of developing metabolic syndrome.
