Simple method for lowering blood pressure and protecting the heart discovered

Australian experts call for replacing regular salt with potassium salt to fight hypertension, describing it as one of the most effective and proven methods for lowering blood pressure and preventing cardiovascular diseases.

As reported by TUT.AZ, the results of the study are published in the authoritative journal Journal of Hypertension (JH).

Potassium-containing salt is a mixture of sodium chloride and potassium chloride (usually in a 75:25 ratio). This substitution solves two problems at once: reducing sodium consumption, which is the main culprit for raising blood pressure, and simultaneously compensating for the potassium deficiency observed in most modern people. Large-scale clinical studies convincingly prove that using potassium salt leads to lower blood pressure, reduced number of heart attacks and strokes, as well as decreased mortality rates.

Specialists emphasize that many years of recommendations to limit salt consumption have not yielded the expected results: the average person still consumes almost twice as much sodium as recommended. In this regard, switching to potassium-containing salt is considered the most practical and feasible solution that can positively impact the health of the population as a whole.

Scientists also note the importance of considering contraindications to the use of potassium salt, such as kidney diseases and taking certain medications, but assure that for the vast majority of the population, this is a safe and effective measure in a comprehensive strategy to prevent hypertension.
