Just 17 grams of this product per day can lead to hypertension, scientists warn

Certified dietitian Elizabeth Shaw revealed a disturbing connection between daily diet and the risk of developing arterial hypertension. According to her, nutrition plays a key role in controlling blood pressure, with some foods becoming real "silent killers" of vascular health, despite the fact that a properly selected diet can effectively prevent hypertension. The expert shared her observations in a publication for the portal eatingwell.com.

Elizabeth Shaw identifies processed meat products as the main "enemy" of healthy blood pressure. Sausages, ham, hot dogs, and similar products pose a serious threat to the cardiovascular system. Studies demonstrate a shocking fact: consuming just 17 grams of such products daily significantly increases the likelihood of developing hypertension. The reason lies in the high concentration of sodium, lack of dietary fiber, and the presence of preservatives that negatively affect blood vessels.

To prevent high blood pressure, the dietitian recommends enriching the daily menu with foods high in potassium, calcium, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids. This list includes fruits, vegetables, fat-free or low-fat dairy products, whole grain products, and fatty fish. These dietary components actively contribute to strengthening the cardiovascular system and help maintain normal blood pressure.

Elizabeth Shaw pays special attention to the importance of regular consumption of clean water. Her colleague, dietitian Drew Hemler, explains: a sufficient amount of fluid is necessary to maintain the optimal volume of circulating blood and effectively remove excess sodium from the body, which directly affects the reduction of blood pressure.
