Identified Subtle Causes of Bad Breath

Therapist Alexey Khukhrev revealed unexpected causes of bad breath related to ENT diseases.

As reported by TUT.AZ with reference to Lenta.ru, a number of gastrointestinal tract diseases, including gastroparesis and diabetes, as well as liver and kidney dysfunction can be sources of bad breath. However, dental problems should not be excluded either.

"If food stays in the stomach for 12-20 hours, it can start to ferment and rot, causing belching with a rotten egg smell," the expert explained.

Doctors call this condition gastroparesis. Another common cause is halitosis, which occurs due to white plugs in the tonsils, formed from food residues and bacteria. People with poorly controlled diabetes may have breath that smells like acetone, and kidney failure is characterized by an ammonia smell.

As "Tsargrad" reports, bad breath can also appear as a result of low-carbohydrate and high-protein nutrition, which negatively affects the body.

Plastic surgeon and ENT doctor Ilyana Goncharova drew attention to another factor - breathing disorders. According to her, such a problem can arise, for example, due to a deviated nasal septum.
