Cardiologist raises alarm: night light may cause heart disease

As reported by TUT.AZ, renowned cardiologist Ehimen Aneni revealed an unexpected danger that may lurk in many people's bedrooms during an interview with the Huffington Post.

The scientist drew attention to a recently published study in the prestigious journal JAMA Network Open, the results of which give pause for thought: sleeping with artificial lighting significantly increases the risk of a range of serious cardiovascular diseases, including heart failure, ischemic heart disease, atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, and stroke.

According to the specialist, the mechanism behind this dangerous connection lies in the disruption of the body's circadian rhythms and the reduction in the duration of quality sleep. It has been scientifically proven that insufficient sleep and disturbances in rest patterns significantly increase the likelihood of developing cardiovascular system problems. Particularly alarming is the fact that women proved more vulnerable to this threat. Aneni emphasized that among female night shift workers, heart failure is registered more frequently than in men under similar conditions.
